  personality.     a first impression often leaves others with the sense that corvus is both incredibly apathetic and stern, with little to say and even less to concern himself with. he often responds very flatly, if at all. he keeps few friends and fewer confidants, and this leaves him with a vaguely mysterious air about him.however, he is actually a deeply compassionate and empathetic man. he is one who will do anything to keep those close to him out of harm's way -- and usually, that means keeping them as far removed from him as possible. as the warrior of light, his presence alone brings danger. oft this puts his loved ones directly in harm's way.having been forgotten by all who once knew him in the advent of the seventh umbral calamity, he withdrew incredibly far into himself-- that the loss he incurred may never happen again. it is for that very reason that he is incredibly shy, choosing only to share his true self with a select few. he does try his best to mitigate the damage this does, but it is evident to most he speaks with that there is some kind of distance. even after the returning of the world's memories of dalamud, the scars remained.because of this, he has long had trouble connecting with his peers, and relies most often on himself-- much to the chagrin of his most steadfast companions. this has turned him into a deadly and capable warrior, one who is capable of doing whatever must be done to survive; this, of course, includes making himself into a weapon. it is a duty he bears with both grace and weight, a captivating sense of gravity about him. this extends to all he does, and is most commonly reflected in his willfulness to take on even the most deadly of work without so much as flinching.

headcanon one. his account isn't from 1.0, but corvus himself witnessed the events of the seventh umbral calamity, and was a part of the group of warriors of light who were rescued by louisoix. in the aftermath, he too was forgotten by all but those bearing the echo.headcanon two. as part of a co-wol au, he shares a soul with the other shardbearer of azem, who is virtually his platonic soulmate. he is one half of an azem who split themself in twain. his half originally bore the name acheron.headcanon three. though the canonical events of ffxiv take place over the course of around a year, the expacs took place over a far extended period of time. ~4-5 years.

headcanon four. due to the aetherial corruption that took place during shadowbringers, corv is extremely sensitive to aetherial changes around him. he has an uncanny ability to sense the aether of people nearby, even those behind him.headcanon five. due to his aetherial sensitivity, as well as his communion with internal darkness from DRK, he has a particularly close bond with the voidsent that serves as his RPR catalyst.headcanon six. corvus is actually all but completely blind in his left eye, as it was damaged by one of the heaven's ward during the events of HW. this is what caused him to set aside the lance-- dragoon jumping requires depth perception.

weapons expertise. he is incredibly skilled in use of polearms, greatswords, and scythes, as his time spent in each of his job classes has honed his abilities.acheron crystal. corvus carries with him the pale amber memory crystal of his previous incarnation, acheron, which imparts upon him the ability to summon allies in a time of need. functionally identical to the crystal of azem. minor difference for flavor.role: dark knight. during the events of post-HW, he fell into the role of dark knight, drawing upon the power of the darkness within him. he picked up the forbidden arts from the soul crystal he found, and often leans upon them in desperate situations.

blessing of light. hydaelyn's gift, which imposes upon him light aether. he is capable of resisting corruption, and bolstering his abilities in a dire situation.role: dragoon. though he no longer bears an attachment to nidhogg's eye, his skill with spears and physical fitness come from his time spent in the knights dragoon. its more arcane aspects come from an exposure to dragon's blood in his youth, one that was reawakened by the eye.role: reaper. after joining up with and assisting the lemures, corvus made a pact with a voidsent from the thirteenth, giving him the destructive abilities commonly associated with the reaper job class. he is capable of communing directly with the voidsent, enabling it to briefly assume his body.

Though the circumstances of his birth are rather unusual, he was loved by both of his parents very dearly. His mother, an Elezen woman by the name of Irmina Adalram (who had fled Coerthas in her youth), was a wandering adventurer by trade-- one who left her home behind to explore the world. Operating as a a merchant escort during an expedition to Hingani, she was enlisted to protect a rather peculiar Au Ra man-- one who had left the Steppe and his clan to pursue life as an artisan, named Erdene.The two were fast friends, and inevitably lovers-- choosing to travel the continent together for a brief time. It was only after their son was born that they decided to leave Hingani behind, eventually settling in a small village in the Coerthan Highlands-- as Doma was quickly becoming less and less safe in the face of the Empire. Corvus grew up there for a large part of his youth-- his mother acting as an armed guard, though a certain sickness took his father a few years after they'd settled.Following his father's death, his mother continued to raise him on her own -- by his tenth summer, Corvus had already taken to emanating her: his fondness for weaponry and penchant to get lost on "adventures" was quickly made known. It was during one such outing that his mother came to retrieve him-- and the two were ambushed, kidnapped by rogue cultists who sought to bestow the 'gift' of dragon's blood upon the skilled adventurer, and eventually, her son.Though the two were forced to undergo the ritual, the intervention of a group of the Knights Dragoon saw to it that matters were soundly handled. They cut down the beast his mother had become, and took the boy - who bared no evidence of tranformation, beyond a few scales - back with them to Ishgard.

He was soon enlisted into the Knights, as is common with youth who lost their families to attacks from those aligned with the Dravanian Horde— though discrimination often meant keeping his appearance secret. Though he had little hatred for dragonkind in particular, there was no doubt that the repression of grief and anger from his loss turned him into a deadly warrior.It was during his time in Ishgard he first met the young lady who would later become his traveling companion and dear friend— as well as a young man who he gifted a longbow, crafted with the technique that was the last remaining trace he had of his father. His bonds among the knights, too, grew stronger by the day.When news of the oncoming Seventh Umbral Calamity reached Ishgard, he was one of a group of the Knights who deigned to lend aid to Eorzea, despite lacking the approval of the church to do so. It was around this time that his Echo was first made manifest in visions-- and protected him from the Tempering that would swiftly claim his unit. He was the one to put them to rest.Corvus vowed to finish things in their place, and joined Louisoix's cause.Following the Seventh Umbral Calamity, after being sent two years forward in time, Corvus found himself barred from Ishgard-- there were none who remembered him, and his unusual, scaly appearance gave him no recourse. It was following this exile he made way to Limsa Lominsa, signing on with whomever would take him, no matter the danger of the job, and staying and occasionally working in the inn. When the Scions found him once more- despite them having no memory of his involvement with Louisoix- he took it as a sign from the Fury that he was to rise to action once again. There would be no peace without intervention, and no intervention without one willing to step into the fray.

Having begun his travels once more upon the docks of Limsa Lominsa, Corvus finds himself again pulled into heroism by the glaring injustices of the world. Following a brief meeting with Y’shtola, he ends up following fairly closely with ARR’s early canon. He is called to act as the Admiral’s personal guard following his deeds in La Noscea, and joins the Scions once his possession of the Echo is made known to them. He is absent for the attack on the waking sands, and once again loses a number of friends and allies to the designs of the Ascians. Though he was uncertain of his choice to join up with the Scions again following his failure to stop the Seventh Umbral Calamity, he finds renewed purpose in protecting his allies and ensuring the Ascians are not permitted another Calamity.Corvus defeats primal after primal, felling Eikons as he would any lther beast. Though he takes little prode in it, and remains incredibly distant from the Scions (largely out of a fear that he will once again be cut from the memories of those around him, or be directly responsible for their deaths), he is cruelly efficient in all of his work. He continues acting as a dragoon in Camp Dragonhead, and frequently lends his aid in Coerthas, despite being barred from Ishgard proper.

Things change significantly when it comes to the Praetorium. Though he is no stranger to doing battle with the forces of the Garlean Empire, the returning presence of the Ascians presents the dragoon with a whole host of problems, oftentimes more than he can handle alone, He is forced to rely upon the aid of the Scions, even as he continues to try to be the hero that they need. It is during the fight with Ultima that Corvus learns the full extension of Hydaelyn’s blessing — though Lahabrea kills him, Her Light tears him back from death. He is deeply shaken by the incident, another failure, another loss; he resolves to leave the Scions when he has finished lending them his power, and defeats Lahabrea.Corvus is hailed as a hero and told he will be given time to recover, though there are deeper machinations in the works. During the following celebrations, he is blamed for the “assassination” of the Ul’dahn empress, and forced to flee to Coerthas, once more seeking refuge, as he had in his youth.
